Ex-Fisherman to spend Twilight Years in Prison for Incest
 
PUTRAJAYA, April 8 (Bernama) -- A 76-year-old ex-fisherman who committed incest with his under aged step-daughter six years ago, will spend his twilight years in prison. A Court of Appeal three-member panel led by Justice Datuk Seri Mohamed Apandi Ali upheld the man's conviction and 18-year jail term imposed by the Kota Baharu Sessions Court.     The law of Malaysia is mainly based on the common law legal system, a direct result of the British colonisation of Malaya, Sarawak, and North Borneo by Britain.
    The Federal Constitution is the supreme law of Malaysia. It establishes a constitutional monarchy with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the Head of State. It provides for the establishment of three main branches of the government: the bicameral legislative branch called the Parliament, which consists of the House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat) and the Senate (Dewan Negara); the executive branch led by the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers; and the judiciary headed by the Federal Court.
